Origins of our Name

ShopHouse is a face to the world…. 
As its name suggests, a shophouse contains a shop with a separate space for living.  Found throughout South East Asia, and especially in Singapore, this traditional style of architecture has recently been revived with an urbanised edge.  One of the most important features of a shophouse is the open-to-sky spaces that provide lots of natural daylight and fresh air.  Residents of a traditional shophouse would use this space for quiet reflection, places to dry laundry, or for cooking, playing and reading.  The revived shophouse has continued this tradition.
